Tro Thi Tuyet, Ma O Village, Son Trung Commune, has been working at Saigon Sewing Company for 4 years. “With my present salary, VND4.5 million a month, I can afford my living expense and save VND1.5-2 million to support my mother at home.”

Bo Bo Ngoc Thanh, a resident in Son Hiep Commune, says his daughter got a job at Saigon 2 Garment Company right after her sewing course at Khanh Son Vocational Training Center. According to CEO Ngo Trung Kien, over 300 ethnic minority people have been employed to work at Saigon 2 Garment Company for the past 4 years. Most of the workers from Khanh Son are hard-working with a good sense of discipline.

Nguyen Xuan Tao, Director of Khanh Son Vocational Training Center says based on the demand for vocational training and employment, the center has focused on opening courses on farming, husbandry, veterinary medicine and some non-agricultural jobs, including sewing, carpentry, computer science, construction, etc.

The center is committed to vocational training connected with job creation, meeting with the actual labor demands and confirming the existence and sustainable development of the center.

According to Mau Thai Cu, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Son District People’s Committee, the local authority and relevant agencies have enhanced propaganda on vocational training, assuring preferential polices for ethnic minority people. Besides, they are offered grants by the local authority in their first month at work.

In late February, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee gave approval to the upgrading of the center to a vocational boarding school.

Khanh Son District People’s Committee has directed the school to apply suitable preferential measures for rural and mountainous students. Its strategies include providing work opportunities through cooperation programs with other vocational colleges, contributing to poverty alleviation.
