The 2015 Action Month for Food Safety focuses on safe vegetable and meat use, production and business in an effort to drive public action to safeguard against contamination of food to ensure good hygiene and food safety practices.

Le Dinh Don, Chief of the Department of Khanh Hoa Food Safety says main activities includes boosting propaganda and education for food producers, handlers and consumers on how to produce, store, prepare and serve vegetables and meat safely; regulations on safe vegetable and meat use, production and business; pesticide regulations, etc to prevent foodborne diseases.

In addition, supervision and inspection are enhanced over food production, handling, import, transportation and business, especially at wholesale markets.

Concentrated inspection is expected to be carried out at 30 food businesses by the provincial delegation from now to May 15. Besides, food safety supervision will be also conducted by delegations at district- and commune-level to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Food businesses are required to present such documents as conformity certificates, certificates for food safety training; medical certificates, documents on labels, test, food origin and other related information.

Moreover, inspection plans to examine infrastructures and how food handlers and business owners abide by food safety regulations.

The Action Month for Food Safety is expected to gain satisfactory results, helping to raise food safety awareness and responsibilities of managers, producers and consumers in order to prevent food poisoning and common food-related diseases and thus ensure food safety for everyone.
