Van Ninh District Young Doctors’ Club has just taken a medical trip to Ninh Tan Island Village, Van Thanh, Van Ninh District, providing free medial examination, medicines and consulting for over 500 residents.

Huynh Thi Phuong Lan, a resident in Ninh Tan Village says, “Thanks to the volunteers, we can have medical check-ups and get access to more health care knowledge. We rarely go to see a doctor due to long-distance travel. We just go to the pharmacist for medical needs.”

Besides health care, members of the club have joined clean-up effort at the beach, organized entertaining and musical programs and offered gifts to children.

Phan Thanh Liem, Head of Ninh Tan Village says, “This is practical and meaningful work and we hope the club will come to us more often.”

With initial 70 members when founded, the club has increased its membership to 90 who are young medical professionals at Van Ninh District Medical Center. They share the same wish to donate their youth and knowledge to taking care of the community’s health. Various volunteer activities have been held, especially blood donation and medical examination for the disadvantaged. The charity work has been funded by club members and other benefactors.

The club’s volunteer work has received supportive feedback from the local authority and residents, contributing to the local health care and social security. Such medical trips are also unmemorable experiences for each member.

Vo Diep Quoc Tu, a member says, “When we came, there had been a long queue waiting for us. I feel what I have done so helpful and become more responsible for my career. I will try my best to study and work hard to donate more to the community.

“Van Ninh District Young Doctors’ Club has organized nearly 20 volunteer trips and provided medicines worth VND300 million to over 7,000 people. More spiritual and material support from others is needed so that our charity will reach more people in need,” says Dr. Luong Dang, Head of Van Ninh District Young Doctors’ Club.
