2015 summer program is expected to include many practical activities to motivate the youth’s volunteering.
This year’s event is themed “Fun and volunteer summer”, focusing on the so-called Semester in army, gratitude activities, summer volunteer campaigns and contests on sea and island propaganda. These activities can serve as a platform on which young people can contribute to social security, according to Vo Hoan Hai, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Communist Youth Union.
One of the most remarkable activities includes the Semester in army which has been developed since 2014 and highly appreciated by local leaders and parents. At present, the demand for the Semester in army has increased with the enrollment of up to 200 students divided into 2 classes. The operation period increases from 7 days to 10 days with various activities namely “We are new soldiers”, “Fountainhead of affectionateness” and so on.
Khanh Hoa Youth Union is making all preparations for the summer program to best meet educational purposes. Especially, during this year’s Action Month for Children themed “Listening to children”, Khanh Hoa Youth Union has directed youth organizations to remain the operation of clubs namely “Children’s rights”, “Little reporters”, etc. in an effort to provide opportunities for kids to speak out their ideas as well as seek for donations to offer scholarships and gifts to needy children in remote areas.
In addition, propaganda against drowning in summer has been launched via many channels, including the Internet, mass media and posters in high risk areas.
Besides, local communities have been instructed to boost such activities as opening swimming teaching clubs, organizing swimming competitions, establishing rescue teams for children and teenagers, etc.
To reach the targets as planned, concerted direction of the youth union all levels is required. Summer activities are expected to be interesting and suitable for local actual situations. Social work and the youth’s volunteer construction must have high social value.
Moreover, the activities must be accompanied with education and propaganda so that every child and teenager can improve his knowledge and advance in study after the summer vocation.
