Outstanding families are honored at the conference.

On June 25, 24 families in 8 districts, towns and cities attended a conference to commend outstanding families for their successful child care and education.

In the cozy atmosphere, the parents shared their experience in child care and education methods as well as tips to lead a happy family life.

Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, Van Thang Commune, Van Ninh, says, “We are sometimes in disagreement with each other about child care and education. But we  both try to restrain our temper and have a talk to reach a fair solution, so that we can understand each other more.”

Nguyen Ha Hai, in Nha Trang City, says, “I am aware of my responsibilities at home and thus willing to share housework and child education with my partner.”

His wife, Nguyen Thi Minh Thao, says, “We work together to maintain home and hearth. Home-cooked meals at weekends are great opportunities to tighten family bonds.”

Thoughts in keeping families happy were shared among parents. It is important that each family member must share responsibilities, communicate and maintain a fair solution to reach agreement in child care and education.

Besides sharing family responsibilities, communication and forgiveness are important in families, according to MA Nguyen Duc Thoi, Head of the Faculty of Foundation Department, Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy.

Khanh Hoa Women 's Union has frequently directed its Union at all levels to boost the propaganda on building happy families with many campaigns such as “Educating 5 million mothers on good parenting”; “Vietnamese women’s characters in the period of industrialization and modernization” and so on.

In addition, training courses have been held to raise the knowledge of the law on marriage and family, gender equality, child care, protection and education, etc. Furthermore, many contests have been organized to create chances for families to meet and share their experience in building a happy family, etc.

According to Le Thi Mai Lien, Vice-Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Women 's Union, the above activities are designed to make changes in self-awareness and action in preserving and promoting moral family values.
