The 2015 Green Summer Campaign is scheduled to take place on July 20 -31. The Youth Unions of schools, universities and colleges are making preparations for the summer campaign with many meaningful activities.

This year, a large number of students have registered for the summer campaign. To be eligible for the event, applicants have to take an interview. Qualified students who are believed to suit the program the most will be chosen and then provided further training to fulfill their roles effectively. Chu Son Kiet, Vice Secretary of the Construction Department Youth Union, Head of Nha Trang University summer team 2015 says, “This year, 60 volunteers will be recruited. The eligibility includes good health, experience, time availability as well as commitment.”
Doan Vu Hai, the first-year mechanics student says, “Joining the volunteer campaign has been my long-time dream since I was at high school.” Therefore, during the summer vocation, the Binh Dinh-born student has still remained at the university to join the campaign.
Like Hai, the second year student named Ha Thi Ngoc Hue is always eager to join the volunteer trip. “The trip is helpful to many disadvantaged people and it surely gives us valuable life experience”. Universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa Province have completed their volunteer recruitment process. Pacific Ocean University, Khanh Hoa Medical College, Nha Trang Teacher Training College, etc have made plans for skill development training for volunteers.
Khanh Hoa Police Youth Union plans to choose Thanh Son Commune, a disadvantaged community in Khanh Son District to be the destination for this year’s summer campaign. 50 Youth Union members are going to join effort to install lighting on rural roads for 1km, build a water filter system at a nursery school in Apa 2 Village; repair Apa 2 Primary School and 3 houses for the poor; dredge 3km of irrigational interior field canals; grant gifts to students and policy beneficiaries; in association with Khanh Hoa General Hospital Youth Union provide medical examination and medicines for about 200 people.
The funding is expected to be over VND100 million. Captain Dinh Quang Hung, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Police Youth Union says, “We have conducted a survey of the destination for the summer campaign. Everything is ready now.”
According to Le Cong Lap, Secretary of Nha Trang University Youth Union, the volunteer team is expected to do much work such as installing a solar energy system, building a playground for children, installing a safe water system, building a safe vegetable garden, etc worth nearly VND300 million. More funding is required to provide further support for the needy.
Nguyen Van Nhuan, Vice Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union, Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Students’ Association, the preparation for the summer campaign has gone smoothly. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 20 with the participation of 450 volunteers from 9 communities in Khanh Hoa Province.
