Over the past 40 years, Ursula Nguyen, Chairwoman of Medical Aid for Vietnam Association has contributed greatly to heath care improvement in Khanh Hoa Province.

Ursula Nguyen was born in the capital of the state of Saarland, Germany. Her husband is PhD Nguyen The Phiet born in Khanh Hoa. She is the founder of the Medical Aid Association for Vietnam Association in Berlin. Its members and Ursula Nguyen have mobilized many hospitals in Germany to donate used medical devices and furniture.
In addition, they have raised funds for new medical equipment by selling souvenirs as well as seeking for donation to charity at fairs. Her shop has a Vietnamese flag and a large board saying “SOS!E.K.G for Vietnam”. The proceedings have been used to purchase breathing machines, EKG machines, sterilizers and many other medical devices to be forwarded to Vietnam.
Ursula Nguyen often stays in Vietnam for 6 months every year to receive donations from Germany and distribute medical aid to hospitals in Vietnam. Besides, she has spent time meeting and providing support for poor patients, mostly suffering from war-related sequalae.
Apart from medical aid for general hospitals, the charity association led by Ursula Nguyen has provided support for dermatology hospitals, orphanages, rehabilitation centers and clinics for tuberculosis and malaria, etc in Khanh Hoa and some neighboring provinces.
Truong Tan Minh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Public Health Association, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients has worked with Ursula Nguyen for many years. He confirmed and highly appreciated the long-term medical aid from Ursula Nguyen to Khanh Hoa. Up till now, she has donated thousands of beds, desks, cabinets and hundreds of medical devices, including breathing machines, EKG machines, ultrasound scanners, X-ray generators and surgical kits for Khanh Hoa General Hospital, Dermatology Hospital and many other clinics.
Vietnam Government and Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee have awarded many certificates of merit to Medical Aid for Vietnam Association and Ursula Nguyen. She has been also awarded the German Order of Merit by German Federal Republic for her great contribution to charity in Vietnam for nearly 40 years. When asked about her work, Ursula Nguyen simply said with pride: “I am Vietnamese. I love Vietnam and voluntarily devote all my life to the country.”
