Khanh Hoa University contributes to high quality training

The decision to found Khanh Hoa University was announced in a ceremony held on September 18.  The Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1234 on the establishment of Khanh Hoa University based on emergence of Nha Trang Teacher Training College and Nha Trang Culture, Art & Tourism College on August 3.  

Khanh Hoa University is a public school under Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee. Its location will be in Van Dang Village, Vinh Luong Commune, Nha Trang City. Initially, the university will be based at Nha Trang Teacher Training College and then be moved to its new location in Van Dang Village. Its second location will be at Nha Trang Culture, Art & Tourism College (52 Pham Van Dong, Nha Trang City) for the training and practice in culture, art, tourism and foreign languages. Besides, its center for research and scientific experiment will be constructed in Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District.

 

The university is scheduled to be operational on October 1. According to PhD Nguyen Thi My Binh, Principal of Khanh Hoa University, the total staff of Khanh Hoa University is 386, including 305 in charge of teaching.  When put into operation, the university has 1 Assistant Professor, 21 lectures with PhD degrees (accounting for 7.2%), 190 with master’s degrees (62.3%) and 93 graduates (30.5%). Besides, there are 30 PhD students and 27 lecturers currently taking higher education courses.

 

Basically, the staff has met the labor requirement in terms of academic training, information technology and English language proficiency. This is considered as a stable base for the university to meet educational targets, satisfying the higher education required by the Ministry of Education & Training.

 

Khanh Hoa University has been among focus constructions over the past years. The infrastructures, equipment and staff have basically met the training requirement and continue improvement. Khanh Hoa University is expected to begin its first enrollment for its 4-year courses in the 2016-2017 school year. 

 

Khanh Hoa University is scheduled to provide 4-year undergraduate programs in Vietnamese studies, cultural management, engineering physics, traditional musical instrument performance; tourism and travel management; information technology, English language and Russian language in the first stage (2015 – 2020); and social work, sport management, law, Western musical instrument performance and hotel management in the second stage (2021 – 2025). 3-year courses will be in existing training fields, including pedagogy, culture, tourism, art and foreign language at Nha Trang Teacher Training College and Nha Trang Culture, Art & Tourism College.

 

Khanh Hoa University is expected to facilitate higher education in Khanh Hoa Province as well as provide high quality human resources to serve the socio-economic development in Khanh Hoa, the South Central Coastal region and the highlands.

 

To guarantee regular expenditure for the university, Khanh Hoa People's Committee has directed the Department of Finance to maintain the regular spending of 2 merged colleges; on that basis, balance and supplement recurrent expenditure for the smooth and effective operation of Khanh Hoa University during its first years of establishment. However, the university is committed to operating autonomously following its schedule in accordance with Resolution No. 77 dated October 20, 2014 by the Government on pilot renovation of the operation mechanism of public tertiary education institutions during the 2014-2017 period.
