Children in poverty in remote areas always wish for the Moon Festival full of fun with cakes, lanterns and exciting games. Some have neither eaten moon cakes nor had their own lanterns on the festival. Therefore, these days, many charity groups have paid a visit to the children and celebrated the festival for them.

On September 19, Huong Tu Charity Group traveled nearly 500km from Ho Chi Minh City to Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is their second moon festival celebration there. Over 600 gifts, including sweets and lanterns and over 1,000 books were offered .

“Whenever we come here, we all feel so happy. Lanterns and moon cakes are not big gifts but they are all our love we want to share,” says a volunteer named Ho Thi Thu Anh. Besides gifts, the children enjoyed a musical show performed by the volunteers.

Cao Thi Triet, a fourth-grader at Khanh Hoa Jeju Primary School says, “We are so eager to see our favorite legendary characters Moon Goddess and Moon Boy. We are also very happy to receive nice gifts.” Principal Vo Thi Thanh Huong adds, “Disadvantaged children in Suoi Cat always look forwards to the Moon Festival. They are grateful as the volunteers can bring them so much joy and happiness.”

Another charity trip was taken by Camera Tinh Te Nha Trang photographers’ group on September 20 to Thanh Son Pagoda, Cam Hai Dong Commune, Cam Lam District on the occasion of the Moon Festival. Apart from gifts offered to 50 children, a musical show and group games were organized.

Van Ngoc Duy, a member of Camera Tinh Te Nha Trang says, “We are so delighted to bring laughter to children. This is our first charity trip ever taken after one year of foundation. The event is funded by several benefactors and the group members as well in the hope of bringing a warm Moon Festival to all children.”
