On October 30, Khanh Hoa Provincial Study Promotion Association held the 4th Representative Congress, term 2015-2020 and awarded outstanding individuals and organizations in the patriotic emulation; and talent and learning promotion campaign.
According to Bui Thi Hong Tien, Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Study Promotion Association, one of the notable achievements is that the association has expanded across the province with nearly 163,300 members. 995/995 villages have study promotion association branches; 489 schools have study promotion associations; 497 study promotion committees are founded at local agencies and companies, etc.
Over 17 years of construction and development, Khanh Hoa Provincial Study Promotion Association has received much concern and support from the National Study Promotion fund, Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee together with local departments, agencies and organizations.
Much achievements have been gained in study promotion in Khanh Hoa. There are 80,028 studious families, 72 studious kin, and 341 villages; 245 agencies and schools recognized as learning communities. Besides, there are community learning centers in all villages and wards in Khanh Hoa Province. Community learning classes increased from 784 in 2012 to nearly 2,000 in 2014. The classes were on agriculture, forestry, law, etc. The diversity of learning models has contributed to building a learning society.
Under the policy on public participation in education, the association has raised funds from many individuals, agencies and organizations, businesses and religious institutions to finance study and talent promotion activities. Many scholarships and bikes are awarded to excellent students every year. 11 association branches of Van Thanh Ward, Nha Trang City have promoted the saving movement for the local study promotion. Khanh Viet Corporation awards over 1,500 good students annually. Ninh Hoa Scholarship Fund has offered 1,200 scholarships so far.
Especially, since its foundation in 2012, Khanh Hoa Study Promotion Association has mobilized many individuals and organizations to donate to its scholarship fund and VND2 billion worth of scholarships has been awarded to students. Its fund worth over VND11 billion has been kept intact. Many businesses and organizations have also funded the investment in school facilities and infrastructures in Khanh Hoa.
With satisfactory achievements, Khanh Hoa Provincial Study Promotion Association was awarded an excellent emulation flag for study promotion for 5 years (1998-2012). From 2010 to 2014, commemorative medals for the cause of study promotion were awarded to many individuals; and certificates of merit by Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and the National Association for Study Promotion were granted to several individuals and groups.
In the 2015-2020 period, Khanh Hoa Provincial Study Promotion Association plans to continue expanding learning models in Khanh Hoa Province with study promotion committees founded at 70% of agencies, businesses and military institutions; and 100% of schools. The targets also include that each family has at least one member of study promoting association; teaching staff and public servants are members of the study promotion association; 80% recognized as studious families, 60% as studious kin; 70% as studious villages and 60% as studious agencies, businesses and military forces. The association also strives for awarding over VND1 billion worth of scholarships to needy students and excellent ones every year. Besides, community learning centers are expected to raise their operation quality to further promote lifelong learning.
