Opening in October, 2015, Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases has met medical care and treatment needs, contributing to patient overload reduction at tertiary level hospitals.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases is situated in the former location of Dien Khanh General Hospital, Dien Khanh District. Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases receives 34-40 patients a day on average. The number of patients is often double the existing beds.
At present, the hospital has 90 staff, including 12 doctors. Dr. Nguyen Dong, Director of the hospital says, “The hospital is well-equipped with modern facilities and staffed with experienced physicians from the Department of Infection Control, Khanh Hoa General Hospital. Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases is dedicated is to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases and infections.”
Since its foundation, Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases has received technical transfer, especially in emergency and hepatitis treatment from specialists from Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Tropical Diseases, helping to improve physicians’ professional skills.
Dr. Bui Xuan Minh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health says these days, some tropical and infectious diseases such as hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), flu, viral fever, etc have become an increasing public health issue while tertiary level hospitals are frequently overloaded. Therefore, to increase medical care and treatment quality and reduce hospital overload, Khanh Hoa Department of Health has made the project on founding Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
The hospital investment includes 2 stages. The first stage has finished with 70 beds. There are the Department of Polyclinic, Emergency, Pediatrics - Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Clinical Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, Nutrition and HIV/AIDS; and administrative ward equipped with modern facilities to meet the examination and treatment requirement.
The second stage includes the Department of Emergency, Diagnostic Imaging, Blood Transfusion Hematology, Anapathology, Microbiological Test and Biochemical Test with a 30-bed inpatient ward expected to be completed in 2017.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital of Tropical Diseases has been put into operation since October 2015 with 100 beds. The total expenditure is over VND103.4 billion funded by the local State Budget. Reportedly, its charity kitchen has just opened, serving 4 portions a day on average.
