The forum was an opportunity for schoolgirls to speak out their thoughts and feelings; discuss and share their knowledge. Bui Thuy Vy from Ly Tu Trong High School says, “When at school, besides academic knowledge, it is necessary for us to learn life skills and everyday etiquette.”
According to Doan Thi Kim Kieu from Nha Trang University, premarital sex can have bad influence on students’ learning and self-esteem. “Girls should be aware of and appreciate their value by studying hard and leading sound life styles which are beneficial to their families and society,” she adds.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, a student at Khanh Hoa Medical College says, “Besides professional skills, medical ethics are required to become a good doctor. Therefore, during my apprenticeship, I always try to practice and learn more to become a qualified doctor and good citizen.”
Ngoc Tram from Le Quy Don High School expressed her wish for more programs and activities to improve academic knowledge, life skills and vocational guidance for young people to get well-prepared for their future life and career development.
According to Nguyen Thi Hung, the forum was a start-up activity in the 2014-2017 cooperation program between the Women’s Union and the Youth’s Union. Other activities included “When I reach 18”, “Students with 5 merits”, etc. with the participation of several schoolgirls.
In addition, the Women’s Union in association with the Department of Education & Training opened 700 courses on Vietnamese women’s moral characteristics for 68,830 students. Through the activities, younger generations’ opinions and wishes associated with their learning conditions and social activities were expressed and thus understood.
Reportedly, the women’s Union at all levels in association with the Youth’s Union plans to continue organizing various activities to educate and propagandize sound and healthy lifestyles and provide vocational guidance to help schoolgirls to be more mature and confident in the life ahead.
