7,600 old people are engaged in local administration at the moment in Khanh Hoa Province. They have fulfilled their roles and set good examples for younger generations to look up to and follow.

In spite of old age, Bui Thi Ngan , 75, is till working as Secretary of Phuoc Thai 1 Party cell, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City. She has actively joined social work and conciliation. “I must be a good example in every activity to create trust. My children and grandchildren are taught to be diligent and law-abiding citizens”, says Bui Thi Ngan. Le Thi Nguyet, a resident in Phuoc Thai 1, comments, “Bui Thi Ngan deserves a good example for others to follow.”
66-year-old Dang Ca in Thanh Binh 2, Dien Lac Commune, Dien Khanh District is also active in local government work as the Village Mayor and Chief of Thanh Binh 2 Village Association for the Elderly. He directly mobilized local residents to abide by laws and policies.
Since the implementation of the new rural construction program, Dang Ca has mobilized the donation of hundreds of m2 of land, tens of million dongs and workdays to rural road opening. Particularly, he mobilized local residents and government to contribute to the construction of 3 houses for the poor in 2014.
Vo Hoai Phong, Vice-Chairman of Dien Lac Commune People’s Committee says, “Village Mayor Dang Ca is always enthusiastic in social work. He listens to local residents’ opinions and suggestions and then report them all to leaders for consideration.”
Over the past years, the Association for the Elderly at all levels has effectively implemented the campaign “Old age, good example”, attracting the participation of several senior citizens in various sectors such as administration, conciliation, study encouragement, security, cultural family building, etc. Their wisdom and experience have been highly valued, contributing greatly to the local development.
It is essential that senior citizens continue donating their wisdom and experience to the local socio-economic growth and security maintenance. Seniors have played an important role in society.
