The Gender Equality Department under the Ministry of Labor, Ward Invalids & Social Affairs held a consultation workshop on the draft action plan under the recommendations by the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on November 26-27.
The CEDAW adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly is described as one of the core international bills of rights for women. It consists of 4 parts and 30 articles. Vietnam signed to accede to the convention on July 29, 1980 and was approved to become a CEDAW member since November 27, 1981.
