Integration of gender equality in many work regulations at Nha Trang Vocational School.

The event was under the AECID-funded project on integration of gender equality in decent work legislation and policies in Vietnam implemented since May 2015 by Vietnam Vocational Training Accreditation Agency under General Directorate of Vocational Training.  Nha Trang Vocational School is among 10 schools engaged in the project since the 2015-2016 school year.

Female leaders at present account for 30%, which is expected to increase to 40%. The figure can be achieved in 2018, according to the school leader. Priority has been given to women in appointment and emulation campaigns for the sake of women's health and development.

According to Tran Van Hai, Principal of Nha Trang Vocational College, the aim of gender equality is to narrow the gap in  employment  opportunities, helping poor rural women to have better access to economic resources and labor market; improve the female human resource; and empower girls and women towards equality in education and training.

The integration of gender equality in regulations for vocational teachers and officials is essential to the achievement of a more equal society for both men and women. Pham Vu Quoc Binh, Director of the Department of Vocational Training Quality Assessment under General Directorate of Vocational Training  says gender equality has been integrated in regulations at vocational schools for an equal effective working environment for all staff.

However, more workshops and training courses are required to raise vocational staff’s awareness of gender equality and the gender equality integration; give recommendations and take advantage of recourses from support programs to expand the scale of the AECID-funded project, adds Vuong Thi Hanh, a consulting expert of the project.
