On November 24-25, the General Political Department of the People's Army in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) held a training course on the International Humanitarian Law for 50 officials of Vietnam People's Navy, Vietnam Coast Guard and Border Defense Force.
The event provided information related to the International Humanitarian Law, Law of Armed Conflict at sea, Sea Law; rights and responsibilities of coastal countries, foreign vessel operation, military activities at sea, etc. The International humanitarian law IHL seeks to limit the effects of armed conflict and mitigate human suffering caused by wars.
Vietnam has been a member of some 20 conventions and protocols of the International Humanitarian Law.
