Youth join hands to preserve environment

Many youth campaigns have been held in Khanh Hoa Province, contributing to environmental protection. The activities have included “Voluntary Saturday”, “Green Sunday” and so on, says Nguyen Van Nhuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union.
 

Youth people and Youth Union members have been mobilized to join clean-up effort, plant trees and put more dustbins in public places. Besides, youth vanguards have maintained patrols to remove illegal advertisements, provide environmental propaganda and tidy up some public places.

Outstanding models such as “Green Sunday” and “Voluntary Sunday” have been launched by Khanh Hoa Border Guard Force with the participation of nearly 670 Youth Union members and young people together with 400 locals.
 

In addition, many activities have been organized in response to the World Environment Day, World Oceans Day, Vietnam Sea & Island Week and so on.


The Communist Youth Union of Khanh Hoa Provincial agencies have joined clean-up effort at Hon Dung Martyr Cemetery in Nha Trang City, drawing the participation of hundreds of volunteers.


Nguyen Chi Anh, Deputy Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union says, one or two Youth Union affiliations hold volunteer days every Saturday and Sunday to tidy up public places and remove indiscriminate advertisements on electric poles.
 

Khanh Hoa Youth Union has directed and supported Youth Union affiliations to found volunteers’ groups to boost environmental activities and propaganda in communes and wards.
 

The environmental activities have been maintained and served as an effective community channel for environmental issues to be collected and reported by Khanh Hoa Youth Union to the local authorities. Hundreds of environmental protection workshops have been held to raise pubic awareness broadly on environmental issues.


In the time to come, Khanh Hoa Youth Union plans to continue organizing environmental workshops to provide young adults with essential knowledge and skills; and cooperating with local authorities to get involved in the support, supervision and implementation of environmental protection activities, Nguyen Van Nhuan confirms.
