After 5 years of the implementation of the “Traffic culture with waterway transport safety” movement (2011 - 2015), many models have proved effective, contributing to raising public awareness of waterway traffic safety.

The movement “Traffic culture with waterway transport safety” has been successfully implemented in Khanh Hoa with various activities. Many traffic culture models have been proved effective, attracting locals’ attention and engagement, according to Khanh Hoa Provincial Traffic Safety Board.
Several initiatives have included Long Phu Tourist Port model, waterway traffic rule propaganda by White Sand Tourist Company, a drowning prevention program for children by Bai Dai Tourist Site; “culture, civilization and safety” inland port and ship by Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, etc.
Supervision cameras and rescue kits have been equipped under the “culture, civilization and safety” port model. Besides, propaganda has been boosted to raise awareness of waterway traffic regulations. All effort has been made to contribute to assuring complete transport safety for passengers, says Le Dung Lam, Director of Long Phu Tourist Company.
Senior Lieutenant-colonel Dang Thi Tu, Deputy Chief of the Waterway Traffic Police Division, Khanh Hoa Public Security says, the traffic law propaganda has been coupled with patrol boost. Therefore, waterway traffic security has been maintained and no waterway traffic accidents have been reported for many years.
At present, there are many inland waterway ports with a large number of vehicles, including 677 tourist ships, nearly 10,000 fishing boats and about 5,000 aquaculture cages in Khanh Hoa.
According to Nguyen Xuan Chanh, Chief of Khanh Hoa Traffic Safety Board, waterway traffic culture models should be expanded to promote the effectiveness of the “Traffic culture with waterway transport safety” movement.
Besides, traffic police should boost regular patrols, supervision and traffic rule propaganda, especially at tourist ports namely Long Phu, Cau Da, Yen Sao, Phu Quy, Hong Hai and other ports namely Van Gia, Khai Luong, Diep Son, Dong Mon (Van Ninh), Vung Ngan, Vinh Nguyen, Bich Dam (Nha TRang), Binh Ba, Binh Hung, Da Bac, Ba Ngoi, (Cam Ranh). It is also essential to integrate the waterway traffic safety movement in other campaigns such as “Everyone engaged in cultural life construction at residential communities, “Everyone engaged the national defense and security protection”, drowning prevention programs for children, etc.
