Lifelong learning has grown dramatically in Khanh Hoa Province with several effective learning models after 1 year of implementation of the Government’s scheme 281 on lifelong learning promotion till 2020.

Generations under the family name “Do” in Khanh Hoa Province were among 130 kin highly appreciated for lifelong learning in Khanh Hoa in 2015. Since its foundation in 2002, the study encouragement board of the family name “Do” has made great effort in study promotion through valuable support for disadvantaged children’s education. The promotion of life long learning has been linked with cultural life construction. A study encouragement fund has been founded to award scholarships to good students. Nearly VND10 million was raised to offer scholarships to excellent students and top exam score achievers in 2015 alone, says Do Phi Phong, Head of the family’s study encouragement board.
Nha Trang University has also won high appreciation as a “learning unit”. Its staff have been provided opportunities to attend professional development courses. At present, the university has 9 Associate Professors, nearly 120 holders of doctorate degrees and nearly 350 holders of Master's degrees. Most of MA and PhD courses have been taken in developed countries such as Norway, Japan, Korea, France, the U.S.A, etc. 137 cadres are taking professional development courses. In addition, the university has held many career-based counseling and learning workshops, etc for students.
Tong Van Toan, Deputy Chairman of Nha Trang University Study Encouragement Association says, the university scholarship fund has been developed thanks to the donation of the university staff, former students and businesses in an effort to help disadvantaged students to overcome financial hardship to continue education and pursue their dreams. In 2015, thousands of students were awarded scholarships worth nearly VND5 billion and many children of policy benefactors benefited from monthly one- million grants.
Focus communities for life long learning scheme till 2020 in Khanh Hoa Province include Nha Trang City, and 10 communes, wards and towns in Ninh Hoa, Cam Ranh City, Truong Sa Island District and the districts of Dien Khanh, Cam Lam, Van Ninh, Khanh Vinh and Khanh Son. Much achievement has been gained, especially in terms of public awareness of lifelong learning and effort made to win the titles studious families, studious kin, learning communities, etc, according to Nguyen Viet Dan, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Study Encouragement Association. 142,278/159,954 families, 130/130 kin; 642/701 villages and residential groups; 625/705 agencies, businesses, schools and military forces in Khanh Hoa won life long learning recognition in 2015.
