Students in Khanh Hoa have shown competence as well as commitment to local development through many practical activities. One of their outstanding activities in recent years have been volunteer campaigns, focusing on community development initiatives.

Students’ Association at universities and colleges have facilitated volunteer activities to introduce freshers to new learning environments as well as share experience in study; provide students with accommodation support and guidance. Besides, “Green Sunday” and “Sunday for the community’s sake” were periodically organized at social service centers, according to Truong Tan Hung, Standing Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Students’ Association.
Especially, in 2015, the university exam support” campaigns drew the participation of over 600 volunteers. They were present at coach stations, Nha Trang Railway Station, bus stops and exam locations to provide timely consulting for 150,000 candidates and their parents.
Over 10,000 accommodations and over 14,000 portions were provided free of charge or at discount prices. 25,000 exam leaflets and maps were also handed out. In the “Green summer” campaign, over 400 students of 10 teams from universities and colleges took charity trips to remote areas to teach children; open computer science and farming classes; build houses and amusement parks; propagandize environmental protection, etc.
Remarkable constructions included a solar energy project on Diep Son Island, Van Ninh District; 2 physical activity playgrounds for children in the two districts of Van Ninh and Khanh Son; a vegetable garden at Anh Dao Orphanage, Ninh Hoa Town, etc.
Apart from charity activities, scientific research was also focused among students. The “5 virtue student” movement was effectively implemented. Important events included direct dialogues between students and school leaders, the “If I were Chairman of provincial People’s Committee” writing contest held by Khanh Hoa Youth Union and Provincial People’s Committee”; and many other scientific workshops.
In addition, students were provided opportunities to reach their full potentials and achieve all round excellence through many activities and clubs designed to develop organizational skills and life skills, social work, etc drawing the participation of over 1,000 volunteers. Furthermore, over 840 students joined support clubs, arts clubs, English clubs, hand writing clubs, green environment clubs, dance clubs and so on.
Khanh Hoa Students’ Association has just directed students’ associations to continue effort to provide conditions for the youth to further contribute to the society. Student campaigns have proved effective throughout the province, confirms Truong Tan Hung.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Students’ Association has nearly 18,300 members at the present. In the 2014-2015 school year, 17 students won the “5-virtue” student award at provincial level and 1 student received the “January Star” award.
