The scheme on building a learning society, period 2012-2020, has been effectively implemented in Khanh Hoa Province, contributing to providing lifelong learning opportunities for everyone, creating more jobs as well as  improving living standards.

Over the past 3 years, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has invested nearly VND47 billion in the scheme on lifelong learning models, including vocational training for rural residents, vocational counseling, professional training, education universalization, etc.

Much innovation has been made in propaganda on lifelong learning, roles and benefits of learning societies through a wide variety of models such as “Studious family”, “Studious community”, “lifelong learning week” and so on.

In addition, the educational network has expanded with various training forms. Some community education centers in rural areas have operated effectively, contributing to meeting the lifelong learning demand, providing cultural and technical knowledge to help locals to boost their production, increase capacity and thus improve their living standards.

Much effort has been made to increase literates. Over the past 3 years, 479 people have been mobilized to attend literacy courses. The literacy rate among ages 15-60 has reached 98.8%. 9/9 districts and towns have been recognized to meet education universalization standards. Professional development for state officials has been also focused.

Besides achievements, there have remained some obstacles related to vocational training, cooperation among relevant agencies and departments in some mountainous areas; infrastructures, etc. Unreachable targets set for the 2013-2015 period are in such sectors as computer science and foreign language training; senior high school education for workers; production technical transfer for rural residents at community education centers, etc, according to Le Tuan Tu, Director  of Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training.

Nguyen Duy Bac, Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Khanh Hoa Board of Education Universalization, Illiteracy Elimination & Learning society Construction, has requested steering boards at all levels to strengthen their organization in the first quarter of 2016,  assign specific tasks to each member with regular inspection and evaluation at the ceremony of preliminary summing up of 3 years’ implementation of the scheme on building a learning society, period 2012-2020.

Besides, he also asked Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training to coordinate closely with other departments and agencies in the implementation of the scheme on learning society, period 2016 – 2020; work as a counselor of the Provincial People’s Committee in learning society boost.
