In early January 2016, over 50 members of Youth Skill Clubs at colleges and universities in Khanh Hoa joined the camping festival in Cam Hoa Town, Cam Lam District. The camping festival included  many interesting activities focused on Youth Union organizational skills for students.

The event began with luggage transportation by crossing string ladders, climbing trees and going through underground trenches to enter the camp site. All of the teams conquered the first challenge within 7 minutes. Other exciting activities were cooking, searching for medicinal herbs, climbing mountains, using flag semaphore to give signals, etc through which members could learn and share experience and skills.

Maybe, the most challenging but rewarding experience was forest crossing. They had to get up early, climb mountains and follow tracks left by the organizing board. “From 4am, all the members of our team began searching for tracks, running and climbing to reach the destination. We all had to try our best and help each other to overcome challenges to win,” says Mai Thi Kim Lan, Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy “The event has promoted Youth skills and provided an opportunity for members to meet, learn and share experience, contributing to raising the operation quality of the Youth Skill Club,” adds Chu Son Kiet, Director of Khanh Hoa Youth Skill Club.

Khanh Hoa Youth Skill Club, formerly known as the Youth Skill Club of Nha Trang University, was founded in  2009. It holds activities every Thursday and Sunday. The club in cooperation with Nha Trang University Youth Union has contributed to the construction of 7 playgrounds for children. Besides, the club has organized volunteer programs in To Hap Town, Son Binh Commune, Khanh Son District; Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang City; offered gifts worth millions of dong to children and residents in need in Khanh Hoa Province.

The Youth Skill Club has provided students with opportunities to practice their communication and organization skills; and promote their mutual support. Through various activities, the club has promoted the roles of the youth, contributing to the community development. The club has drawn students from not only Nha Trang University but also other colleges and universities throughout the province, according to Nguyen Huu Manh, Nha Trang University Youth Union’s Deputy Secretary and Students’ Association Chairman.

The members have been provided communication, presentation, self-learning and Youth Union organizational skills. Every year, the club strengthens its leadership to provide opportunities for excellent members to learn and experience leadership skills.

The club has gradually expanded its model to provide link among students from many colleges and universities. The club was re-named as Khanh Hoa Youth Union in December 2014. After 6 months of operation, the club has attracted more than 1,000 members. It also has branches at Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy, Communications University, Tourism Vocational College, etc. Members admit that they can learn a lot about the value of life and have chances to exchange information, knowledge and experience in study, work and life. Huynh Nhat Vy, Director of the Youth Skill Club, Communications University says, the club serves as a platform on which students can develop their communication skills, helping them to  succeed in job search and career development.
