Hamlet 10, Lien Binh Village, Son Binh Commune, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province has just had access to electricity after a long wait and expectation.
An electrically powered pump is used to bring water from To Hap River up to mountain fields. |
“We have just bought an electrically powered water pump. I am very happy that my 0.5ha of coffee, pepper and durian trees are able to survive after days of drought,” says Bo Dien while busy installing water pipes and electricity wires on his mountain field.
When we came, Bo Thi Tuyet Nhung, her children and grandchildren were happy together watching television. “We have a long dream of access to electricity. Lack of electricity means no televisions and no electric lights for children to do their homework in the evening. The electricity wires were installed about 1 week before the lunar New Year festival. All of us are so delighted,” says Bo Thi Tuyet Nhung.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Vice-Chairperson of Son Binh Commune People’s Committee says, “Most of the locals are Raglai people. The access to electricity helps to improve living quality and bring benefits to the economy, especially in terms of agricultural productivity."
The first day with access to electricity seemed to be unforgettable for local residents. The work was promptly implemented by Cam Ranh – Khanh Son Power subsidiary.
Ta Quang Khanh, Chief of the General Techniques Office of Cam Ranh – Khanh Son Power subsidiary says, “The work includes 0.23kV low-tension wires from the FB.01 Station at a cost of VND100 million funded by the 2016 construction investment capital of Khanh Hoa Power Company."
Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Power subsidiary completed the design, material purchase, execution and connection to electricity on January 30, just 10 days after receiving the electricity supply suggestion by Khanh Son leaders.
Great effort has been made to enable the remote community’ connection to the national power grid which is expected to cover other remote mountainous areas in the time to come, according to a leader of Cam Ranh – Khanh Son Power subsidiary.
