Young people in Dien Khanh District have joined in many volunteer activities under the campaign on the youth joining hands in new rural construction launched by the Central and Provincial Youth Unions, contributing to rural community development.

Dien Khanh District Youth Union has guided its branches to make specific action programs attracting the participation of many young people. Main tasks have included propagandizing the content and meaning of new rural construction through banners, posters, competitions, forums, workshops, etc; and commending outstanding individuals for production efficiency and environmental protection, helping to raise young people’s awareness of the rural construction as well as motivate their engagement in the rural community development effort in Dien Khanh District.
Luong Le Thanh Van, Deputy Secretary of Dien Khanh District Youth Union says, in 2015, 3 constructions on lighting up rural roads were completed at a total cost of VND75 million covering more than 3,500m in the communes of Dien Dien, Dien Son and Dien Tho. Besides, Dien Khanh District Youth Union in cooperation with Khanh Hoa Youth Union lighted up nearly 4,000m of rural roads in the 3 communes of Dien Son, Dien Lam and Dien Binh at a total cost of nearly 100 million; commended outstanding individuals and organizations; organized forums and workshops to share effective models and experience in order to promote young people’s effort in new rural construction.
Up to now, successful models have included pig husbandry on biological paddings in Suoi Hiep Commune, freshwater aquaculture in Dien Dien Commune, poultry husbandry in Dien Tan Commune, wild pig husbandry and garden-pond-pigsty economic model in Dien Xuan Commune, tropical orchid cultivation by Dien Khanh Youth Union, etc.
In addition, 38 courses on advanced technique and technology transfer have been held for some 350 Youth Union members and young people; together with vocational guidance and job recommendation for 124 young people. Youth Union branches in cooperation with the district Bank for Social Policies have provided capital support for the disadvantaged to expand their business and production to sustainably escape from poverty.
Moreover, Youth Union members and young people in Dien Khanh District have participated in social security work such as propagandizing laws on military service, crime control & prevention; fire & explosion prevention and control; traffic safety, clean-up activities, etc, helping to assure traffic safety and minimize social evils.
In the time to come, Dien Khanh District Youth Union plans to continue its propaganda to raise young people’s awareness of new rural construction, diversify training courses; and cultural and musical exchange programs; jointly implement constructions on lighting up rural roads; establish waste collection groups to meet the environmental criteria; create more opportunities for the youth to expand their business and production to improve their incomes; as well as commend outstanding individuals in order to motivate the youth’s contribution to the rural community development, according to Luong Le Thanh Van.
