A VND5 billion solar energy system was installed in Ninh Tan Island Village, Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province in 2015, helping to improve local living standards.

Solar energy helps to improve local life.

“We used to completely depend on a diesel-powered electric generator which provides electricity for about 2-3 hours/ night. All the village is put in the dark whenever the electric generator breaks down. Since the solar energy system was put into use, we have had access to electricity all day. We buy more household appliances, televisions, karaoke sets, etc. It can save us a lot, some hundreds of thousand dongs a month for energy costs,” says a resident named Le Van Qua.

The project on electricity coverage with solar energy in Ninh Tan Village was invested by the Department of Trade & Commerce. The work includes 60 solar energy battery sets at a total capacity of 21,000kw/h for 56 families, nursery schools, primary schools and broadcasting systems.

“The solar power system is invested in Ninh Tan thanks to the concern from the Communist Party and the State. The availability of electricity has facilitated the use of many telecommunications and thus it can help improve local residents' knowledge with more entertainment choice. There has been propaganda on protection of the sustainable energy system for long-term use,” says Nguyen Thanh Liem, Head of Ninh Tan Village.

Hopefully, more solar energy systems will be installed on islands in Van Ninh, contributing to socio-economic development as well as local life improvement.
