The education quality in Khanh Son District has much improved thanks to many comprehensive strategies and practical measures.

1-6 Nursery School, To Hap Town, won the national standard recognition, level 1, in 2011. At present, the school has 326 children, 30% of whom are from ethnic minorities. Spacious schools have been built  in Khanh Son.

Newly-constructed schools have included Son Binh Junior High School, Son Ca Nursery School, Hoa Mi Nursery School. Schools located far from the district center have also been upgraded. 4/20 schools have met the national standard, level 1. 7/20 schools have satisfied the quality requirement.

The 2015-2016 academic year has seen the increase in the school size. VND3 billion funded by Khanh Son District Education & Training has been allocated to classroom repair and facilities, meeting the infrastructure requirement, according to Tran Thi Ngoc Duyen, Deputy Director Chief of Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training.

Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training has just won the first team prize in the Vietnamese language exchange program held by the Department of Education & Training. The achievement is thanks to teachers and students’ thorough preparation and great effort in learning and teaching Vietnamese language.

Many measures have been taken to improve ethnic minority children’s Vietnamese language skills. Vietnamese language periods have increased to 497 from 350/ year for first-graders. Vietnamese classes have been opened for pre-schoolers in summer, etc. Vietnamese-speaking environments have been created at schools through extracurricular activities, musical and sporting activities, so that ethnic minority children become more confident, says Nguyen Thi Thua, a primary education official at Khanh Son Division of Education & Training.

In the 2015-2016 school year, the district has successfully persuaded 95% of children to get nursery education. The nursery education universalization for 5-year-olds remained in 2015. VNEN primary schools have included To Hap and Son Lam. This school year, there are 100% day-boarding primary schools for ethnic minority children. The junior high school education and training quality has much improved with effective application of information technology and use of audio-visual aids.

In the first semester, the school drop-out rate was down, and over 85% of primary school children met the study requirement with those graded average and above accounting for 88%. Most of the schools have done a good job in cooperation with local authorities and parents in teaching children.

More effort continues to be made with the focus on educational supervision to improve teaching and learning quality; further training for distinguished students as well as weak ones to improve academic performance; professional development for teachers, etc, says Tran Thi Ngoc Duyen.
