School motorcycle taxi services have become available, meeting school children transportation in Nha Trang City. Families usually choose trusted drivers, especially those that parents have known before or have been introduced by their friends or relatives.

“We are too busy fitting my kid’s school routine into our busy work schedule; getting kids to and from school every day. Nursery and primary schools end before we finish work,” says Nguyen Minh Tuan, Phuoc Tien Ward, Nha Trang City.
The same thing happens to Nguyen Thi Nga, a sewing worker in Vinh Hiep Commune, Nha Trang City. She says, “I work in shifts and cannot have time to pick my kid up after school, so I usually have my kid’s teacher give him a lift to her house and then I come there to take him home. I think, parents will be relieved with the help of grandparents in such cases.”
Kids also have an abundance of after-school and weekend activities. Therefore, the transport service is needed, especially for busy parents. Driver Huynh Quoc Tam, Phuoc Long Ward, says “I am transporting children of 2 families living in the same neighborhood. I know their school schedule well so that I can take them to and from school on time.”
Some students also take up the transport service to get earnings. Vu Van Duy, a member of a safe fleet at Nha Trang University says, “The job is suitable for us to earn incomes to cover our study and daily expenses. Safety and punctuality are very important and must be guaranteed."
Tam An Trade & Service Company has operated motorcycle taxi driver service for children. Their staff are mainly students who have just graduated but have not found jobs yet. The service ranges from daily, monthly, quarterly to yearly transportation.
Each driver is in charge of 5-8 children who mainly live in Nha Trang City. The transport fee is higher than the normal price. It costs VND800,000-1 million/ month to have a child taken to and from school within a distance less than 3km. The charge is VND7,000 on the first day, VND6,000/km the next days; and VND5,000/km within the distance more than 10km.
