According to Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, in May, there will be events to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the founding of May Day, also known as International Workers Day. The Workers’ Month 2016 will also take place with plenty of activities, themed “Labor Union accompanies with businesses to look after the workers”.

Accordingly, the labor union at all levels will organize deep and effective activities for the sake of the workers. For example, the labor unions will learn the workers’ expectations and try to resolve the matters as satisfactorily as possible; hold cultural exchanges in order to create useful playgrounds for the workers; select typical products to send to the program which honors the skills, devotion to work and intellect of Vietnamese workers. Especially, the labor unions at grass-roots level will suggest the employers to hold programs to express thanks to the employees; recognize the employees’ contributions to the businesses, localities and society; encourage and convince them to keep working for the businesses. In addition, the provincial Labor Federation will honor twenty enterprises who have offered good policies to the workers.
Besides, the basic-level labor unions’ executive boards will discuss with the employers to ensure proper interests of the workers and offer timely supports to the employees who face difficulties. The labor unions keep accompanying with the businesses to solve businesses’ difficulties and promote production; provide stable jobs and income for the employees; create safe and healthy working environment; train and improve workers’ occupational skills and political knowledge.
At the opening ceremony of the Workers’ Month 2016, Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation will offer a financial support worth more than VND360 million to build nine houses for the workers who have had no house or the ones whose house is old and dilapidated. Also at the ceremony, the federation will present 20 gifts to the workers who have been in difficult circumstance, suffered occupational accidents or occupational diseases. Additionally, the members of fishing trade unions who have accidents on sea will be also given financial support.
According to Hoa, the activities within the Workers’ Month will be carried out based on the local conditions, aiming to attract many workers to take part in. May is also a peak month for establishing basic labor unions and recruiting Youth Union members.
