Khanh Hoa Public Security has just implemented a policy on public participation in crime and delinquency prevention and control in Nha Trang City.
Over the past year, Khanh Hoa Public Security has fulfilled crime control and prevention duties, contributing to maintaining security, promoting socio-economic and cultural development; and improving the quality of life.
The public participation in crime prevention and control aims to enforce the legislation and State management over security, following the community-based crime prevention and control trend.
In fact, community involvement has become an essential component of crime prevention. Public involvement, through families, neighborhood, schools, private businesses and agencies, are potential assets in curbing crime and delinquency. Video clips from surveillance cameras of the community are valuable resources for investigation. Besides, many organizations, businesses, tour operators and local residents have also expected to join effort in security assurance, especially in Nha Trang City.
In 2010, Khanh Hoa Public Security installed a public security camera system on Tran Phu Street and some major traffic roundabouts in Nha Trang City. However, the security cameras are not enough and many of them are out of date.
From April 19, Khanh Hoa Public Security has mobilized public participation in the security camera system installation by 1 of the 2 methods: installing a security camera in front of offices with data connected to Khanh Hoa Public Security Data Processing & Operating Center; and financial funding for the purchase of public security camera devices.
In fact, it will be convenient if cameras are installed by all businesses and agencies to ensure safety in their workplace on streets where they are located in Nha Trang City. Businesses’ financial support will be used for camera installation on the streets where no businesses are situated. The security camera system installation is expected to complete in Nha Trang City by the end of the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Khanh Hoa Public Security will announce the results of the initiative on mass media after the system is put into operation. Besides, there will be evaluation sessions so that the public participation will be expanded to other sectors, says Colonel Dang Van Manh, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Public Security.
