The 2016 Green Summer Campaign is scheduled to take place on July 20-31 with the theme “Safety, discipline, creativeness, practicalness and saving”.
"The action program will mainly run in remote and disadvantaged areas. Khanh Hoa Youth Union has assigned school Youth Unions to do a survey of locations to launch the campaign. Specially, Khanh Hoa University is in charge of Son Hiep Commune, Khanh Son District; Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy is in charge of Khanh Thuong Comune, Khanh Vinh District and so on. However, the arrangement may change based on actual situations," says Nguyen Van Nhuan, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union.
The campaign will specialize in improving infrastructures, constructing inter-village and inter-commune roads; innovating irrigation canal works, lighting up rural roads, developing rural economic stability through agricultural restructuring support and consulting; advanced technical and technological transfer training, etc.
In addition, volunteers’ groups will propagandize reproductive health care, prevention and control of diseases and social evils; organize days for community’s health, school support days with various fund-raising activities to offer scholarships to children and provide further training for students in disadvantaged areas. Besides, many other activities will be held, targeting at international volunteering, reciprocation, the homeland’s sea and islands, etc.
Concerted guidelines of the Youth Union at all levels are required to promote the effectiveness of the Green Summer Campaign. Innovation in summer activities is needed to raise participants’ interest and promote its high social values as well as adapt to actual circumstances.
The launching ceremony is scheduled to take place at Khanh Hoa University on July 20. Khanh Hoa Youth Union has asked for lists of students participating in the campaign so that the campaign steering board can monitor the progress and provide support when necessary.
Apart from social support, the campaign is linked with the propaganda and education of soft skills to help students to be more mature with more progress in study after joining the campaign, according to Nguyen Van Nhuan.
