2 tunnels to the west and east of the Ca Pass road tunnel project were dug through Ca Pass on June 21, 3 months ahead of schedule, according to Le Quynh Mai, Deputy General Director of Ca Pass Investment Joint Stock Company.

The main tunnel system, over 8km in length, has two parallel 9.8m- diameter tunnels, 30m apart, with the designed speed limit of 80km/hour. “After the last digging through Ca Pass, we assure safety and build the foundation in the tunnel. Simultaneously, the investor is making procedures to ask for permission from the Ministry of Transport for official announcement of the event this July,” says Le Quynh Mai.
Developed since 2013, the project is expected to finish in 2017 with an investment of over VND12,000 billion. The Ca Pass road tunnels will facilitate travel and thus promote the socio-economic development in central provinces, particularly Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen.
