VCN Investment Joint Stock Company has just handed 20 houses over to the poor in Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District, Khanh Hoa Province, bringing a great joy to many residents.

The 4-four member family of Cao Dan, one of the recipients, in A Pa 1 Village, used to live in a dilapidated bamboo house, 30m2. Depending on 4 perches of banana trees, they are struggling to make ends meet. They have a new house thanks to VCN’s aid. “This is a dream of my life. I am so happy and will try my best to work to provide for my children's education and improve our family’s life,” says Cao Dan.
Other recipient named Cao Than in A Pa 2 Village says, “We had to live in a dilapidated house with a leaking roof for many years. With some perches of coffee trees, we just live from hand to mouth and of course we can’t afford a new house. We are so grateful to the VND50 million grant. We will try our best to work and get out of poverty.”
VCN is one of agencies assigned to help Thanh Son Commune. The leader of the company has decided to extract VND1billion from its welfare fund to build 20 houses for the poor. The recipients, including 7 in A Pa Village, 7 in A Pa 2 Village and 6 in Ta Giang 1 Village, have been provided house construction grants worth VND50 million each. The houses, 48m2 each, have corrugated iron roofs and tiled floors. Besides, the company has donated gifts, containing rice and household items, to the needy families.
“VCN is developing some urban zone projects in Nha Trang City. The company has held many charity activities to help the need through the company’s welfare fund. In the time to come, the company will continue providing aid for residents in Thanh Commune and other communities in Khanh Hoa Province,” says CEO Nguyen Khanh Toan.
“Thanh Son is a severely disadvantaged area in Khanh Son District with a high poor household rate. Locals live mainly on farming. Many poor family can’t afford house repair and construction. In 2015 and 2016, VCN has financed the construction of 20 houses and Phu Khanh Petrol Company has funded the construction of 10 houses. Many families are now settled and moving forward. More support from benefactors are needed to help more local residents in housing need,” says Ta Quoc Phong, Vice-Chairman of Thanh Son Commune People’s Committee.
