Newly-built Khanh Son Boarding Ethnic Minority School is put into use from the 2016 – 2017 school year.

According to a leader of Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training, in the 2016-2017 school year, the district has 2 new schools namely Khanh Son Boarding Ethnic Minority School and To Hap Junior High School (separated from Khanh Son Senior High School). To prepare for the new school year, the district has invested in the construction and repair of 14 classrooms, 5 subject rooms, 1 office, 1 multifunctional house and 2 kitchens at schools. In addition, nursery schools have been equipped with new desks and chairs. Schools have been tidied up to create a green, clean and beautiful environment before the start of a new school year.

Nguyen  Duc Thuan, Principal of Ba Cum Nam Commune Primary & Junior High School says, the school has completed its infrastructure preparation though located in a remote area. This year, the school has 8 new classrooms with sufficient books, notebooks and other study supplies. Nguyen Van Minh, Principal of Thanh Son Commune Primary and Junior High School says, in early June, the school opened 5 Vietnamese language classes for 79 ethnic minority pre-first-graders. The classes have finished and the children are able to greet and communicate in Vietnamese now.

Besides advantages, there remain some disadvantages such as insufficient equipment for practice classes and day-boarding services; insufficient infrastructures at To Hap Junior High School, etc.

Nguyen Tan Lam, Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training, says teachers are attending political and professional development courses to prepare for the new school year. Khanh Son District is lacking in 13 teachers at nursery, primary and junior high schools in this new school year. Teacher recruitment is underway to assure sufficient teaching staff.

In the new school year, Khanh Son plans to continue innovation in educational management and school network planning to adapt to the current teaching and learning conditions; focusing on improving education quality, persuading 3-5 year-olds to go to school, assuring all-round education for nursery school children; continuing innovation in student evaluation according to Circular No. 30 of the Ministry of Education & Training; maintaining and expanding VNEN teaching model. Especially, interdisciplinary integration approach will be developed at junior high schools. Propaganda and education will be boosted to minimize school drop-outs.

Khanh Son District Division of Education & Training has just provided counseling on an action program for basic and comprehensive educational innovation in Khanh Son District in an effort to fulfill targets in the new school year, contributing to improving education in the mountainous area, according to Nguyen Tan Lam.
