Associations for the Elderly in Khanh Hoa have established 1,086 clubs namely internal martial arts, poetry, chess, badminton, grandparents-grandchildren, etc drawing over 10,000 members.
Outstanding clubs are in Phuoc Long Ward, Vinh Nguyen Ward, Phuoc Dong Commune (Nha Trang City); Van Gia Town (Van Ninh District); Ninh Hiep Ward (Ninh Hoa Town), Cam Loc Ward (Cam Ranh City); Dien Xuan Commune, Dien Lac Commune (Dien Khanh District), Suoi Cat Commune (Cam Lam District), etc.
The clubs serve as platforms for the aged to meet, have fun, do relaxation exercises to improve health and share living experience. Especially, “Grandparents- grandchildren” clubs often organize Uncle Ho story-telling contests, sight-seeing trips to historical relics, traffic rule knowledge contests; and award good students.
