The Central Power Corporation held a ground-breaking ceremony for rural electricity supply from the national power grid, period 2015-2020, in Cam Duc Town, Cam Lam District on October 15. This is delighted news for residents in Cam Lam District as the electricity supply is expected to reach unserved areas in the district in a couple of years.

Project overview
 
The project is implemented under the approval decision No. 2081 dated November 8, 2013 by the Prime Minister. The construction is conducted under the motto “The State and people work together”. At present, Cam Lam Power Company in association with local authorities is calling for residents’ donation of land located inside electrical grid safety corridors to accelerate the project.
 
According to leaders of Khanh Hoa Power Company, the project aims to develop medium and low pressure grids and provide locals with power from the national electrical grid. The project is also designed to meet the local socio-economic growth targets and gradually improve residents’ intellectual level in remote areas, contributing to security maintenance in Cam Lam  District.
 
The project includes the construction of 8.77km of medium pressure grids, 76.78km of low pressure grids and 18 transformer stations at a total capacity of 2,777kAV, providing electricity for 2,169 households in 13 communities namely Cam Duc Town and the communes of Cam Thanh Bac, Cam An Bac, cam An Nam, Cam Hai Dong, Cam Hai Tay, Cam Hiep Bac, Cam Hiep Nam, Cam Hoa, Cam Phuoc Tay, Cam Tan, Suoi Cat and Suoi Tan.
 
The project has 4 contract packages at an expected cost of VND64.9 billion, 85% of which is from the national budget for the year plan 2016 and 15% from the electricity industry. The project includes construction and renovation of medium and low pressure wires, transformer stations, meters, wiring and household electrical switch boards. The project is managed by the Management Board of Rural Electricity Projects in the Central Region under the Central Power Corporation and expected to finish by September 2017.
 
Propaganda boost
 
Cam Lam District has requested leaders of communities located in the project location to promote propaganda to raise public awareness of the project; and cooperated with Cam Lam Power Company to get informed about the direction of medium and low pressure electrical grids, the location of transformer stations; and study electricity coverage demand in unserved populations to inform Cam Lam District Economics & Infrastructures Office which will then make suggestions for the district People’s Committee to send to the Management Board of Rural Electricity Projects in the Central Region, Khanh Hoa Power Company, Cam Lam Company for consideration.
 
Cam Lam District People’s Committee has also assigned the Economics & Infrastructure Office to preside and cooperate with the Management Board of Rural Electricity Projects in the Central Region, Khanh Hoa Power Company and Cam Lam Power Company to give suggestions to the District People’s Committee on solutions to problems arising during the implementation of the project, according to Nguyen Tri Tuan, Vice-Chairman of Cam Lam District People’s Committee.
 
Nguyen Cao Ky, CEO of Khanh Hoa Power Company says much effort is required from electricity industry, local authorities and people to assure the success of the project. Hopefully, the project will be implemented on schedule to soon facilitate unserved populations’ access to electricity, contributing to eliminating poverty, narrowing development gaps and building a prosperous country.
