Nha Phu Swamp marine protection zone project

Dao Cong Thien, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee presided over a meeting on November 1 to listen to Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture & Rural Development’s report on the establishment of Nha Phu Swamp marine protection zone project.

 

According to a report by Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, the Coastal Resources For Sustainable Development Project (CRSD) funded by the World Bank will assist the development and establishment of the locally managed  Nha Phu Swamp marine protection zone. 2 protection areas expected to be built include 711ha Con Ngao (Ninh Ha Ward and Ninh Phu Commune, Ninh Hoa Town), Hon Lao – Hon Thi (Ninh Ich Commune, Ninh Hoa Town) and Vinh Luong Commune, 2,907ha, (Nha Trang City).

 

The establishment of the locally managed Nha Phu Swamp marine protection zone aims to protect biodiversity, the environment and manage marine resources. Dao Cong Thien requested the project-making agency to check research spheres and project plan frames for suitable resource distribution; do more research on occupational conflicts and overlap in the region to define the urgency of Nha Phu Swamp marine protection and submit the project to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee for approval.
