On November 24, Le Duc Vinh, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman; presided over a meeting with leaders of local departments and agencies on the preparation of APEC 2017 in Khanh Hoa. Under the framework of APEC 2017, Khanh Hoa has been chosen to host 2 big events namely the APEC First Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM 1) and APEC Finance & Central Bank Deputies Meeting.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, SOM 1 is scheduled to take place in Nha Trang City from February 18 to March 3, 2017 and include more than 100 meetings with a participation of about 2,500 representatives and international reporters. APEC Finance & Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting is expected to take place at Vinpearl Nha Trang on February 21-24, 2017.
The secretariat and subcommittees of the National Committee APEC 2017 have suggested Khanh Hoa to mobilize 300 volunteers to serve the event, promote APEC and call for businesses’ funding for the event decoration; prepare musical performance; provide security and healthcare support, etc.
Le Duc Vinh directed to establish Khanh Hoa Steering Board for the APEC and 3 sub-boards in charge of propaganda, reception, security and health care; assigned Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism to keep contact with the 2017 APEC secretariat for thorough preparation; work with tour operators to serve representatives and promote local tourism products; Nha Trang University and Khanh Hoa University to hasten the training and selection of 300 volunteers; Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sport to make plans on decoration and propaganda for APEC; Department of Planning & Investment in partnership with Department of Tourism to consider content related to investment promotion; Nha Trang City to make urban renovation in transport and environment, assure security, etc.
