Duuong Hien Quyen Street is under construction.

Streets named Nguyen Chich, Duong Hien Quyen, Quang Duc, etc in Vinh Hoa Ward are dangerously strewn with potholes cracked and heavy dust, affecting traffic safety and health of residents living on the both sides of the streets.

The streets have been in poor condition for several years but the repair cannot be done due to lack of funding for construction and site clearance. In 2016, the localities have mobilized locals to donate land to the street construction under the motto “The State and people work together”. Duong Hien Quyen Street (2nd stage) and Quang Duc Street are typical examples of the following the motto on joint effort by the State and local people. 45 households affected by the street construction have donated over 2,860m2 land, including 850m2 in Ba Lang parish to the public traffic work, according to Vu Thi Thu, Chairperson of Vinh Hoa Ward Fatherland Front Committee.

At present, 10 streets which are being upgraded include Duong Hien Quyen, Quang Duc, Cao Van Be, Nguyen Chich, Hat Giang, Tan Vien, the joint section of Le Nghi and Thoai Ngoc Hau Streets, etc. The street repair work is required to complete before Tet holiday. For unfinished projects, the construction sites must be kept clean and safe to facilitate travel.

Besides the street repair and maintenance, Nha Trang City Urban Management Office in association with the People’s Committees of wards and committees has conducted a survey of damaged streets for a repair plan. Accordingly, the patching to fill potholes and repair street surface will be undertaken on 79 streets at a total cost of VND4 billion. The completion time is before the 23rd day of the last lunar month of 2016, according to Ngo Khac Thinh, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang City Urban Management Office.

To assure trafic safety and urban beauty in Nha Trang City before, during and after Tet, Nha Trang City People’s Committee has issued a document to ask contractors and investors to speed up the construction progress with the patching and street sign installation to assure traffic safety. Staff are required to be on standby at main construction sites to give warning and instructions to drivers. Projects scheduled to start after January 13, 2017 (or the 16th day of the last calendar month) will be postponed until February 11, 2017 (or the 15th day of the first month).

During the Tet holiday, traffic construction investors are required to enhance street flushers to assure environmental hygiene.
