Nha Trang City People’s Committee has issued a plan to organize the 2017 Spring Flower Festival scheduled to open on January 20 and end on February 1, 2017.

This event will be held for the fourth time to honor traditional values, promote the sight of colourful ornamental plants and flowers; and celebrate amusement and entertaining activities for locals and tourists to enjoy during the lunar year-end festival. Like in previous years, Spring Flower Festival is expected take place at Yen Phi Park and Children’s Park (4,270m2 in total). Pasteur Street will be illuminated to create an eye-catching path leading to the 2017 Spring Flower Festival.
 

Nha Trang City People’s Committee has presided over and cooperated with the Association of Ornamental Creatures to invite the participation of skilled artisans from the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai to take part in the display of ornamental creatures; and businesses in the showcase of local specialties.
 

Particularly, to create opportunities for artisans at home and abroad to meet and exchange experience, an Ochna integerrima competition will be held, apart from a variety of competitions for bonsai, artistic dried trees, rockeries, artistic stones, orchids and Pycnonotus jocosus as usual. As planned, Yen Phi Park will be reserved for the showcase of local products by artisans. At the center of Children’s Park will see musical performance at night together with the display of artistic stones, ornamental plants and flowers short-listed for the final round.
 

10 rockeries and flowers will be beautifully arranged to add lively attraction to the event for locals and tourists to take photos. Moreover, the organizing board plans to place handicraft kiosks for the showcase of local products, and feature traditional art on the sidewalks of Ngo Quyen and Pasteur. A Pycnonotus jocosus competition will take place on Pasteur Street, the section from Le Loi Street to Phan Chu Trinh Street. The display zones will be arranged based on specific situations to meet the aesthetics requirement.
 

Nha Trang City People’s Committee has held a meeting and assigned tasks to participating organizations. Accordingly, Association of Ornamental Creatures, Public Service Board, etc. are required to arrange zones for the contests; and short-list the contestants at the Spring Flower Festival; Nha Trang City Public Security to assure order and security at the flower festival; Nha Trang City Division of Culture & Information to organize the classical Vietnamese theatre to attract revelers; and the City Culture & Sport Center to provide stage  lighting and sound. Besides, tasks on traffic flow distribution and business invitation have been assigned to participating units, according to Nguyen Sy Khanh, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee.
