The 2016 second Contest on Youth Creativity &  Business Start-up Ideas held by Khanh Hoa Youth Union has drawn 33 creative ideas and initiates, many of which are considered to be of high practicality.

 This is the 2nd time the contest has been held for young people in Khanh Hoa Province. The number of entries has increased to 33 compared with 9 in the first event of 2015.


Contestant Tran Hai Minh, Youth Union Branch of the Department of Science & Technology has conducted a research on utilization of ethylene to enhance the ripening of Khanh Son durians to protect and promote Khanh Son durian trademark. The research has won the first prize in the field of bio-technology.

Tran Hai Minh has done a test on various kinds of Khanh Son durians. The results have shown that durians can ripe earlier and the quality remains unchanged compared with naturally ripened fruits. The application is expected to help growers to control the fruit ripening time, thus bringing high economic values.

Le Dang Cong Toai, Youth Union Branch of the Department of Science & Technology has done a research on economical watering and fertigation (injection of fertilizers into an irrigation system) for coffee trees in Khanh Son District. The application is expected to save labor and water by 30-40% and fertilizers by 20%. 432 m3 of water will be saved a year if the model is applied in the entire existing area of coffee trees in Khanh Son District.

The initiative to improve the youth Union activities at Nha Trang University has won the first prize in the sector of economics, education and Youth Union tasks. Tran Phuong Ngoc Tu from Nha Trang University Youth Union has surveyed 500 students and gathered some creative ideas and suggestions for his research.


In addition, other practical initiatives include solutions to environmental pollution by household trash in Nha Trang City, electric generators for teaching; tax policy assistance for administration and non business agencies and organizations and so on.


“Many initiatives are of high practicality, but some demonstrations are not clear enough. I hope next year, the event will continue receiving more creative and practical research and initiatives,” says Nguyen The Han, Nha Trang University, a member of  the contest panel of judges.
