Nguyen Duy Bac introduced about provincial outstanding socio-economic achievements and potentials and acknowledged cooperation potentials between the two partners. However, the import and export turnover to Australia and Australian arrivals to Khanh Hoa are not very high with nearly 30,000 arrivals reported in 2016.
 
Nguyen Duy Bac expressed his hope that Karen Layon would promote Khanh Hoa destination to Malaysian investors; and provide a link for the Australian Government and scientists to assist Khanh Hoa in education, tourism, agriculture, high technology, climate change combat, etc.
 
Karen Layon affirmed Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa's rapid development, particularly in tourism, adding that not many Australian tourists and investors know much about Khanh Hoa. Therefore, she wanted to know about Khanh Hoa’s economic development strategies so that she would introduce more about Khanh Hoa to Australian businesses. Australian Government, businesses and scientists are willing to share experience and cooperate in education, tourism and climate change combat.
 
In May 2017, on the sidelines of the APEC 2017, Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Chamber of Commerce will have a meeting on investment cooperation opportunities. Khanh Hoa has received many Australia-trained students, and Australian scholarships are available for application to promote high quality labor resources, according to Karen Layon.
 
On this visit, Karen Layon visited the Research Institute for Aquaculture, Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang University and the construction site for a free playground for poor children in Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District.
