When we came, officers and soldiers at Radar Station 565 were busy preparing a meal and decorating for the New Year Festival. Sergeant Nguyen Hiep says “This is the first time I have enjoyed the lunar New Year party early with my comrades on Tre Island. It is so cozy and cheerful.”

Radar Station 565 is located on the peak of Tre Island, 500 meters above the sea level, some sea miles off Nha Trang coast. It seems that the New Year atmosphere has encompassed Radar Station 565 earliest in Nha Trang City since the brigade commander’s visit to supervise soldiers and bring them New Year gifts.

Lieutenant Ngo Van Mao, Deputy Head of Radar Station 565 says, “Apart from New Year decoration, chung cake wrapping and provision of all necessities, the station has organized musical and sporting activities for the staff to enjoy the holiday like at home."

The New Year party was full of excitement with wishes and musical performance praising about the country, the spring, soldiers and so on. After the musical show, we paid a new year trip to officers and soldiers on duty.

Besides Tet celebration, the station also assures its duties to monitor, keep round-the-clock surveillance of air or sea disposition, process data, determine what it can observe accurately and make reports as regulated.

Senior Lieutenant Le Minh Duc, a radar operator, happily says, “Despite hardship, we all try our best to fulfill our assignments, observe carefully and determine objects accurately.”

Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Han Xuan Lam, “As a naval soldier, I understand how  the New Year festival means to officers and solders working on the radar station. The station has several warm new year celebrations as well as assures its duties well performed to protect the fatherland’s sovereignty over the sea and islands."

New Year is just round the corner and the festive atmosphere has filled Radar Station 565 on Tre Island peak with bright yellow Ochna integerrima and fruit trays on Uncle Ho's altar.
