Children in Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh City were so happy to receive gifts on the last day of the lunar New Year. Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund offered 50 New Year gifts to children in Song Can Trung Village “The kids are so excited to get cakes and jam on New Year’s festival,” says a local resident named Thi Sanh.


Nearly 80 New Year gifts containing rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, sweets and jam have been donated to families in need, according to Duan Thi Thanh Hoa, Head of Suoi Rua Village Women’s Branch. At a spring musical show held by Vinh Nguyen Ward Women’s Association, 30 women with severe diseases received gifts worth nearly VND2 million each. Besides, gifts were to 11 households who lost homes in flood; VND500,000 each to poor women, VND200,000 to needy families, etc. The gifts were worth more than VND90 million in total.


Nguyen Thi Lam, Chairperson of Vinh Nguyen Ward Women’s Association says, “This is the third year the local women’s association has celebrated New Year for local women to promote their solidarity.” Local agencies and women’s association affiliations have organized various activities to celebrate lunar New Year for needy women and children. 625 New Year gifts worth nearly VND90 million in total. Nha Trang City Women’s Union celebrated the New Year with wrapping tet and chung cakes and then donating 200 traditional cakes to families on Nhat Tri, Vinh Phuoc Ward; flood-hit families and poor women.


Khanh Hoa Women’s Union offered 300 gifts worth VND70 million to poor ethnic minority people in Khanh Trung Commune, Khanh Vinh District. VND17 million was offered to 32 families who lost their relatives or homes in flood. Women’s Association at all levels donated VND260 million to the needy; and offered 1,152 gifts worth VND300 million to poor women, orphans and those in need.


Khanh Hoa Women’s Union members has donated and called for donation from benefactors to provide financial support for disadvantaged families in Khanh Hoa. In 2016, housing grants totaling VND2.4 million was offered to build 35 houses and repair 18 houses of poor members and women, according to Le Thi Mai Lien, Vice-Chairperson of Khanh Hoa Women’s Union.
