In the framework of APEC 2017, APEC Workshop on promoting social engagement in fighting corruption took place on February 18 at Sheraton Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province.

The Government Inspectorate in partnership with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held APEC Workshop on promoting social engagement in fighting corruption. Present at the event were Phan Van Sau, Central Party Committee Member and Government Inspector General of Vietnam; Nguyen Van Thanh, Government Deputy Inspector General, Chairman of the Anti-corruption and transparency working group of APEC 2017; Nguyen Duy Bac, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee together with anti-corruption agencies of 21 APEC member economies; representatives of the international APEC Secretariat, some international organizations, some domestic ministries, departments and agencies.

The workshop are expected to have 4 sessions on such topics as the State’s responsibility in promoting social engagement in fighting corruption, presided over by UNODC, presented by Ministry of Supervision of the People’s Republic of China, National Anti-Corruption Committee of Thailand and Korean Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission; roles of social organizations and people in corruption prevention and control, presided over by the Judicial Committee of the National Assembly, presented by TI, UNODC, Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy; investigative journalism against corruption, presided over by TI, presented by WB and some international journalists; businesses towards anti-corruption prevention, presided over by the Government Inspectorate, presented by Indonesia Integrity Alliance, ASEAN CSR Network, VCC, etc.
