After 1 year of opening, the 1st Khanh Hoa Science and Technology awards have been given to 13 scientific studies, many of which are of high values.

Prize-winning studies include “techniques to build salangane breeding house and rear salanganes indoors” by MA Le Huu Hoang (prize A). The study can be used as a basis for developing techniques for artificial hatching, building salangane breeding houses and rearing salanganes for sustainable salangane nest industry development. The study has contributed to improving scientific and technological capacities of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company’s staff as well as salangane breeders. The research has brought high economic efficiency and created employment for more than 1,000 people nationwide.
In the field of social science and humanity, the research and compilation of a study material about Khanh Hoa history used at schools by PhD Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa won B-prize. History books and other materials compiled based on the research have been used at high schools in Khanh Hoa Province. Besides, the research efficiency has been expanded through scientific and technological studies at grassroots levels in districts and towns in Khanh Hoa.
In health sector, the study by the Second Degree Specialist Doctor Nguyen Van Xang on a survey of hospital-acquired infection at general hospitals under Khanh Hoa Khanh Hoa Department of Health is helpful for medical treatment and research, helping improve medical staff’s awareness of hospital-acquired infection control and prevention. The study on evaluation of the carpal tunnel syndrome treatment, using corticosteroid injection at Khanh Hoa General Hospital by the Second Degree Specialist Doctor Phan Huu Chinh and Second Degree Specialist Doctor Dang Thi Thanh Dung has paved the way for effective carpal tunnel syndrome treatment with simple treatment procedures, low treatment cost, low complication risk, etc.
According to leaders of Khanh Hoa Department of Science & Technology, improvement and innovation in scientific and technological activities of departments are required to raise research quality and facilitate access to advanced technology in the region and in the world as defined in Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee’s action program No. 13 issued in 2013.
Khanh Hoa strives to become a center of economics, tourism, science and technology, and labor training for marine economics, tourism and health care development in the South Central Coast, the highland and other communities nationwide. Huynh Ky Hanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Science & Technology says this is the first year Khanh Hoa Science and Technology awards have been held. Therefore, the department has organized various activities to promote propaganda and support scientists to participate in the Awards.
Khanh Hoa Council of Science has judged the entries and Le Duc Vinh, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman has signed a decision to award 8 excellent studies in science, scientific technology and technological application. The awards are committed to encouraging and honoring scientific contribution of organizations and individuals in Khanh Hoa. Hopefully, the awards will attract more participants in the coming years, adds Huynh Ky Hanh.
