Calling for investment in Tu Bong Coach Station

Van Ninh District is seeking for location and calling for investment in Tu Bong Coach by public participation funding.

The 3 communes of Van Khanh, Van Phuoc and Van Long are located far from Van Ninh District center. Therefore, locals have to travel far to catch coaches. The former Tu Bong Coach Station was built in Van Long Commune in 1998 to meet the travel demand. However, after a period of time, the station stopped operation. Then, Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation transferred the management of the coach station to Van Ninh District in 2004 and now it is temporarily used as a location for the police team of the district’s northern communities.

 

Ha Van Dong, Vice-Chief of Van Ninh Urban Management Division says Tu Bong Coach Station, 2,400m2, located in Van Long Commune, did not operate effectively partly because its location was quite far from residential areas and its coaches used to go to Nha Trang City only. However, in recent years, the travel demand has increased, so a coach station is essential to facilitate local travelers.

 

Khanh Hoa Province has issued a document to ask the district to have a planning of the coach station, calling for public participation funding in the construction of the coach station to manage means of transport and serve local travel needs. The district has held a meeting to collect ideas of local departments and communities on the issue. Various schemes are being examined for efficient and sustainable use as well as meeting the general growth planning, according to Vo Luc Pham, Vice-Chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Committee.

 

Based on actual situations, the district is examining a scheme to call for investment in the construction of Tu Bong Coach Station in the 1.2ha storage ground of Van Long Khanh Collective. The location is convenient as it is near the national road and Tu Bong Railway Station and on the intercommunity route, according to Vo Thanh Son, Chief of Van Ninh District Division of Natural Resources & Environment.

 

However, according to Van  Long Commune leader, there are currently only 10 coaches running to Nha Trang City and other cities and provinces. Therefore, the reconstruction of the former coach station should be considered together with the development of suitable coach management schemes.

 

The district has collected all ideas and suggestions of local departments and communities to report to the District Standing Party Committee. At present when the coach station is not available, coach drivers are requested by communities to follow pick-up, drop-off and parking regulations to promote traffic safety and environmental consideration.
