Education in Nha Trang develops comprehensively

Over 40 years since Nha Trang became a city from a township (March 30, 1977 – March 30, 2017), overcoming a lot of difficulties, education of the city has attained achievements, leading the education of the whole province.

 

Increase in scale and quality of education

 

According to statistics till 2016, Nha Trang has 66 nursery schools, 41 primary schools and 25 secondary schools. There are more than 3,500 in educational staff.

According to Tran Nguyen Lap, manager of the city’s Education and Training Department, in the development process of the city’s education, schools and classes have been upgraded towards  firmness and modernization; education quality has also been improved. Rate of secondary school graduates is 99.4%, rate of moving up is 98% - 100%, etc. Nha Trang always leads the province in the movement of good teaching and good learning, good writing, and examinations for good learners and teachers.

 

In pre-school, the number of kids rose sharply from 8,339 after the liberation to 22,523 in 2016. Especially, from 2010 up to now, pre-school has seen a sharp growth in quantity as well as quality. Since 2012, Nha Trang has been qualified for national standards in compulsory pre-school education for 5-year-old children.

 

In primary education, for many years, the rate of primary pupils going to shool in Nha Trang has been 99.9%. Since 1994, primary education universalization and illiteracy elimination have been maintained.

 

In secondary education, scale and quality are also rising. The city keeps compulsory secondary education.

 

 

 

Investment in infrastructure and education socialization

 

To meet national educational standards, Nha Trang has invested in building new schools and classes. Expenditure for the construction has risen year by year. The figures were VND900 million in 1991, VND26 billion in 2006, and VND75 billion in 2016.

 

Education socialization has been done well, which lets the whole society join hands for the development of education. 

Up to now, the city has 46 national standard schools, 27 community study centers, 22 non-State nursery schools. Study encouragement has been speeded up. In 2016, the city Study Encouragement Association mobilized donation of nearly VND3.5 billion to commend and reward good pupils and poor pupils.

 

Continuing improvement of education quality and effectiveness 

 

Aiming to renovate education and training comprehensively for industrialization and modernization in the market economy and international integration, in the time to come, the Party, the authority, the people and the education department will improve quality and results of education and training, according to Nguyen Sy Khanh, Vice-chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee.

 

To reach the target, teaching staff as well as officials in education need to be improved. More investment in education is also needed…
