Sustainable family development

Over the past years, local departments and agencies have developed many models for the sake of sustainable family development.

 

 

Gender equality and anti-family violence propaganda in Van Thang Commune.

Founded in 2012, a model on gender-based violence prevention and control in Van Thang Commune, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province, has proved effective, contributing to resolving family violence issues, giving household business promotion support, boosting poverty alleviation and thus improving residents’ living standards. Since the implementation of the model, the commune has resolved 24 cases through its hotlines, providing counseling for nearly 100 residents and giving medical aid to several family violence victims. This is among many gender-based violence prevention and control models developed in Khanh Hoa Province.

 

Besides, family clubs, namely “Model adult; obedient and studious children”, “Families with traditional fondness for learning”, etc have helped promote the role of families in preserving and promoting traditional family values in the integration period. Production efficiency models of farmers, women and old people in Khanh Hoa have helped give mutual support to develop household business and raise income. Many households have taken good advantage of the models and succeeded, earning hundreds of millions a year/ family. Advanced technical and scientific knowledge and experience have been shared to provide mutual support to raise their business effectiveness through career associations, business efficiency clubs, agricultural promotion clubs, etc.

 

Moreover, legal support activities have been promoted to raise awareness of  the law on gender equality and building happy and prosperous families. In 2016, Khanh Hoa Lawyers’ Association jointly propagandized the law to nearly 6,900 people, providing counseling for 856 cases and legal support for 312 cases, etc.

 

Furthermore, many recreational constructions funded by the State budget and local residents’ donation have been built. 8 culture & sport centers and 6 children’s houses at district level, 74 culture & sport centers at commune level, 532 cultural house and sporting zone at village level. Especially, Nha Trang City has built and innovated 36 recreational constructions, allocated resettlement for families whose production land was revoked due to urbanization, provide vocational training for working-age people affected by the production land confiscation, etc.

 

Every family is a social unit which plays a vital role in the sustainable development of the society and the success of the industrialization and modernization of the country. Therefore, joint effort is required by all departments, agencies and organizations for sake of sustainable family development, says Nguyen Khac Ha, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sport.
