The vehicle loading supervision cooperation program between the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security completed in late 2016. After 2 years of implementation in Khanh Hoa Province, the roving weighing station on the National Road 1 handled nearly 60,000 vehicles and over 3,000 drivers were requested to have over 15,000 tons of excess load removed, etc. Loading inspection has been well maintained in Khanh Hoa. Loading violation cases have decreased to under 5%, says Nguyen Cong Dinh, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport.

After the cooperation program between the 2 forces, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has allowed installing stationary scales on some main roads to prevent vehicle overloading. Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has directed a roving vehicle loading check-point to cooperate with inspectors and local authorities to maintain the round-the clock operation.

Besides, local authorities have also enhanced itinerant inspectors to prevent any traffic violation. The Ministry of Public Security has been assigned to carry out vehicle load inspection on the National Road 1.

“We have made a detailed plan on loading weighing on the National Road 1. Specifically, the department has assigned Cam Ranh City Traffic Patrol Team to cooperate with Cam Ranh Sugar Factory and some private weighing stations to weigh vehicles inspected of overloading to improve the traffic safety on the National Road 1," reports Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Trong Thang, Chief of Nha Trang City Traffic Police Team. Reportedly, on March 3, the Ministry of Public Security equipped Cam Ranh City Traffic Patrol Team with portable weighing scales to provide a convenient and efficient weighing solution.

94 cases of loading violation with VND1 billion fine applied and 23 driving licenses withdrawn have been reported on the National Road 1 from December 2016 till now.  The Ministry of Public Security has approved to install a stationary scale scheduled to be operational this July in Ninh Hoa Town, according to a leader of the Road & Rail Traffic Police Division.
