Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has just issued a plan to launch Action Month for Food Safety 2017 scheduled to take place on April 15 – May 15.
 
The Action Month for Food Safety 2017 themed “Safe production, trade and consumption of fresh vegetables and meat; alcohol control and alcohol poisoning prevention."
 
The event is to raise awareness of the local authorities, management officials, producers, traders and consumers of the importance of ensuring the safety of food, especially fresh food such as vegetables, meat and seafood, as well as reducing alcohol use.
 
Main activities include boosting propaganda and education for food producers, handlers and consumers on how to produce, store, prepare and serve vegetables and meat safely; regulations on safe vegetable and meat use, production and business; pesticide regulations, etc; as well as introduce safe food producers to consumers.
 
Besides, Khanh Hoa Interdisciplinary Steering Board for Food Safety at all levels will strengthen food safety inspection to ensure compliance with food safety standards; focus on management of food safety, especially fresh food such as vegetables, meat and seafood, alcohol, etc.
 
In addition, Khanh Hoa Interdisciplinary Steering Board for Food Safety will organize a launching ceremony for Action Month for Food Safety 2017 in Dien Khanh District.
 
Since the beginning of the year, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has issued many documents related to food safety issues; strengthened district-level Interdisciplinary Steering Boards for Food Safety, boosted food safety propaganda; mobilized  food producers and businesses to sign pledges not to produce and trade in illegal, prohibited, counterfeit goods or commodities violating intellectual property rights, etc. 
 
Moreover, 112 inspection teams at all levels have been founded to conduct inspection and supervision at 3,980 businesses involved in food service, processing and production, and give penalties to food safety violation cases, including trading in food products out of date, of unknown origins, etc, according to Nguyen Dinh Thoan, Deputy Chief of Khanh Hoa Interdisciplinary Steering Board for Food Safety.
